Hi, I’m Gillian.
I'm a CPA and contractor profitability advisor, and I help contractors understand where the money is going inside their jobs so they can make better decisions with confidence.
But I didn't arrive here by accident.
Early in my career, I worked in construction accounting at Abbott Construction and later supported other businesses in the industry. Over the years, I had the opportunity to work closely with contractors and see firsthand just how much responsibility they carry.
They're leading crews.
Managing customers.
Putting out fires.
Trying to keep jobs moving.
And somewhere in the middle of all that, they're expected to understand reports, margins, and financial systems that were never really explained in a way that makes sense for how they run their businesses.
What I discovered is that most contractors aren't bad at business.
In fact, many are incredibly capable.
They simply don't have clear answers.
And when something feels off, it's easy to start wondering if you're missing something everyone else seems to understand.
That's what led me to create the Job Profitability Snapshot.
My goal isn't to overwhelm you with accounting jargon or hand you another report to file away.
It's to help you understand what your numbers are trying to tell you, provide clearer answers, and help you move forward with greater confidence.
Because I believe hardworking business owners deserve clarity—not confusion.
Why Contractors?Over the years, I've had the opportunity to work closely with contractors and construction businesses, and one thing has become very clear:
Most owners aren't struggling because they lack work ethic.
They're carrying an incredible amount of responsibility.
They're managing crews, customers, schedules, change orders, and everything else that comes with running jobs—while somehow trying to make sense of the numbers too.
And when something feels off, many owners quietly wonder if they're missing something everyone else seems to understand.
I don't believe that's true.
I believe most contractors are smart, capable people who simply need clearer answers.
That's why I'm so passionate about helping owners understand what's happening inside their jobs.
Because confidence doesn't come from working harder.
It comes from understanding what the numbers are trying to tell you.
Let’s Talk
You don't have to have everything figured out before reaching out.
If something feels off inside your business and you'd like clearer answers, I'd love to hear what's going on.
We'll start with a conversation about your business and what's been on your mind. No pressure. No accounting jargon. Just a chance to talk through what's happening and whether I can help.
